ENGLISH ANGORAS

I saw my first English Angora at a rabbit show and I was hooked. It looked like a teddy bear with ears that flopped down. I bought a blue doe named Dolly in 2009. She was a little fuzzball when I got her at 9 weeks! I had hopes of getting a buck and breeding then but I couldn't find one at the time.  Dolly runs in my kitchen for exercise and has some special friends. Although she must be supervised when with other animals she makes friends easily. She likes to chase the cat's tails while they are sitting on a chair. Dolly loves to go up and down steps and can jump as high up as a chair seat with no problem. Dolly has made a wonderful pet and has a beautiful coat. I get about 7 ounces of angora fiber each time I pluck her. It takes a while to pluck her fiber each time but it is well worth it for the wonderful pet she is. Her cage sits right beside my computer and she usually has a cat sleeping on top of it so she is never lonely. I recently found a pair of English Angoras, so I am going to try my hand at raising them.

The picture on the left is Dolly, about a month after being plucked. The picture on the right was taken about 3 months later. There she is in full coat and laying beside a miniature calf that is 5 days old. Dolly weighing 6 pounds and the calf weighing 27 pounds. I got over 7 ounces from that plucking!

Dolly loves to be with the Maine Coons. For the most part they are very gentle with her, but I still keep a watchful eye.

On the left is Sally, my chinchilla-lilac/agouti doe. On the right is Sam my blue buck. They were clipped instead of plucked before I got them so they look white in spots and their coat is fuzzy. When their coat is long enough I will pluck them and their true color will show. They are the proud parents of the beautiful bunnies pictured below.

UPDATED FEBRUARY 1ST

These bunnies were born 6-23-11 and are ready for new homes. I will also have some fiber for sale as well.
